Happy Friday Families!
This four day week brought a lot of excitement to our third grade land! We finished Forward testing and I was so proud of how dedicated our group of learners was to this task. We are also wrapping many units up and beginning new and exciting units next week! We will finish our Folktales unit next week and we will also begin transitioning to our next unit focused on opinion writing and persuasive writing. We have also been focusing on various reading strategies in small groups and book groups such as fluency practice (changing our voice to reflect when a conversation is happening and reviewing and practicing what various punctuation marks mean for fluency), predictions based in text evidence and creating focused summaries. Next we will be working on a strategies to help focus the learners understanding of characters feelings and point of view. Science - Next week we will begin our Unit on heredity! We have many exciting activities to look forward to that will give the students unique connections and perspectives to heredity, including a small group of chick eggs living in BDK that will hatch next week :) Social Studies: We wrapped up Australia today with a final Folktale called The Singing Snake. Learners created their own Singing Snake art projects that should be in their backpacks today (we ended up running short on time so some learners were excited to add more details and continue the creation at home). Next week we will begin our Asia Unit :) Math: Geometry Post Test Monday. There are LOTS of vocabulary words and concepts in this unit. Please use the anchor chart resources on the classroom blog to support your learner in reviewing these terms. Have a wonderful weekend and please let me know if you have any questions,
