Other Important Information Rumpus Costume Information: Students will need to wear a t-shirt with these specific colors for their roles in the play. The T-shirt needs to be clear of any writing (can be turn around or inside out so no writing is displayed). If you do not have a t-shirt of this specific color at home, please don't worry about running out and buying one, we have MANY extras from years past that learners can borrow (please let me know if your learner will need to borrow one). Colors for Rumpus: Frog-green Toucan-Black Boa-Green Jaguar-orange, yellow or animal print Sloth-gray Monkey-gray Shaman-white Explorers-white with khaki shorts Ants-red Storytellers-Dress clothes-idea is to look like news anchors :) *Black colored shorts or pants is best or any other dark colors for everyone except explorers. Important Information about field day:
Should be done with:
Literacy: This week in literacy we continued working on persuasive writing, reading examples of persuasive text and explored how to add strength in our writing through describing words and strong adjectives. We also discussed the different types of persuasive techniques you can use to appeal to your reader. Next week we will work on two short writing projects using our heredity monsters from science and then a piece to persuade other students to come to third grade :) Social Studies: We have continued learning about South America through our time practicing Rumpus in the Rainforest and mini lessons with Ms. Cieslik and Ms. Schmitt's classes on Brazil, Patagonia and Peru. We will wrap these mini lessons by discussing the environmental issues currently being face by South America (melting of glaciers and deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest) and asking students to use their persuading techniques and skills in small groups to create informational posters in class prompting awareness and solutions to these issues. Science: We wrapped our Heredity unit on Monday with our Heredity Unit Quiz. The students did a great job in this unit and on the final quiz! Have a wonderful holiday weekend and please let me know if you have any questions, Nicole
