Here is the dictado for this week and next. This dictado test will not be until Friday March 4th so there is extra time to practice :). Please let me know if you have any questions.
Our next book group will focus on magical stories. While we will be reading many different texts, we will also be talking and writing about the stories we listen to. Although we have all read many of these stories, we will be introduced to new pieces of writing because there are thousands of interesting stories in the fantasy genre.

Happy Friday Families!
Thank you so much to all the volunteers and for the donations for the friendship party today! The kids had a wonderful time and we all truly appreciate your willingness to help out in all the great ways you do! We have an exciting week to come next week! Here is a look below! Short Shots *Field Trip next week: The Badgers Magnet group (Rowan, Mikai, Donnie, Sophia, Quinn, Ethan T, Gavin, Caidence N) will be going to the high school prairie on Monday and Whalen Pond on Tuesday. This is in connection to our previous Biomes Unit and other science work we have been doing recently. Please make sure if your learner is one of these student they bring warm winter gear as these are both outdoor field trips. (The Wildcats will be taking the same field trip on Monday February 22nd and Tuesday February 23rd) *LMC this week will be on Tuesday February 16th *Swimming this week will be on Wednesday February 17th *Community Gathering/Spread the Word to End the Word - Wed. March 2 *Homework this week include this weekend: No math homework!, reading, Book Group work (attached in a picture of next weeks book group assignments), Country Museum research (if needed) and journals (What would actually happen if it did rain cats and dogs). Spread the Word to End the Word We will continue working with the campaign's message in connection with our community gathering presentation in March. Our class, along with the rest of third grade, will present a song to the school that expresses the importance of our words and always remembering to be respectful. You are welcome to join us on Wednesday, March 2 for the community gathering. Students can practice this song by going to the classroom blog and playing the new version of the song with the correct lyrics. Thank you Mrs Bremmer! Click here to practice the song. Fractions This week we continued working with fractions and building our fractions knowledge. This week we focused on understanding fractions on a number line, working with equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and fraction word problems. Seminar will officially begin on Tuesday February 16th. Magnets/Force and Motion In science, we are allowing learners an opportunity to mix with other third grade classrooms to learn about two different topics. This week the Badgers have been focused on learning about magnetism and the Wildcats have been engaging with force and motion. Learners will switching units this coming week. The Badgers magnet groups will have their field trips on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Box Tops: Another Box top competition is in full swing. If you have box tops, please send them in with your learner so they count for our class. Country Museum projects are in full swing as well. Working on writing in class has been going great and there are many learners off to a great start! Work at home should focus on continuing research if needed. Please help your learner remember to bring this research everyday to school. The Champion Bag: The Champion Bag is a new activity we are starting next week. Each week two students will fill the champion bag with items that tell the class a little more about them. These items should fit inside the bag, be nonperishables and school appropriate. This is a time for student to connect with each other and share different parts of their lives outside of school. The bag will be sent home on Fridays and should be returned the following week Thursday. We will share these bags as a class each Friday. It is a yellow mesh draw string bag. If you have any questions, please let me know! Our students that will be presenting next week are Apollo and Amireth :) Future updates: In the next coming weeks I hope to have some other methods of distributing information about what is happening in class to all of you. I know these Friday updates hold a lot of information, but also get a bit long. My goal is to have more quick check in points for you to access if you have any questions about day to day homework or other class related events. As soon as I have something up and running, I will let you know! While watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, I did a lot of cheering, yelling, and eating. The winning team completed lots of running plays. The halftime show was starring many famous musicians.
Changed Lyrics to "Speak Life"
Some days life feels perfect Other days, it just ain't workin' The good, the bad, the right, the wrong And everything in between Yo it's crazy, amazing We can turn our heart through the words we say Mountains crumble with every syllable Hope can live or die So be kind, be kind To the deadest darkest night Be kind, be kind When the sun won't shine and you don't know why Look into the eyes of the broken hearted Watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope You speak love, you speak You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh Some days the tongue gets twisted Other day my thoughts just fall apart I do, I don't, I will, I won't It's like I'm drowning in the deep Well, it's crazy to imagine Words from my lips as the arms of compassion Mountains crumble with every syllable Hope can live or die So be kind, be kind To the deadest darkest night Be kind, be kind When the sun won't shine and you don't know why Look into the eyes of the broken hearted Watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope You speak love, you speak You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh Lift your head a little higher Spread the love like fire Hope will fall like rain When you are kind with the words you say Raise your thoughts a little higher Use your words to inspire Joy will fall like rain when you are kind with the things you say Lift your head a little higher Spread the love like fire Hope will fall like rain When you are kind with the words you say So be kind, be kind To the deadest darkest night Be kind, be kind When the sun won't shine and you don't know why Look into the eyes of the broken hearted Watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope You speak love, you speak You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh You are kind, oh oh oh oh oh Some days life feels perfect |
